Electric Scooter 13 to 16 year old

Our electric scooters for 13 to 16 year olds are the point where a scooter stops being a toy. A teenager wants range, speed and something that doesn't look childish parked next to their mates' bikes. All three here are Neo Outlaw, our own brand, running 350w to 550w with ranges from 25km to 70km on a charge.

Electric Scooters for Teenagers

What a Teenager Actually Wants From a Scooter

Range is usually the thing. A younger child rides in circles on a driveway; a 15 year old wants to go somewhere and come back without the battery dying halfway. The X7 covers 25km on a charge with a 350w motor and is rated 12+, making it the natural first scooter at this age. The X9 is the serious one, with a 550w motor, 48v battery and up to 70km of range on 10-inch tyres that handle rough ground properly. The Eagle 500 sits between them on power. All three are Neo Outlaw, which is our own brand rather than a rebadged import, so spares and support come direct from us.

Where a 13 to 16 Year Old Can Legally Ride

Worth being straight about this before you buy. Private electric scooters cannot legally be ridden on UK roads, pavements or cycle lanes, and that applies to every scooter on this page regardless of the rider's age. Legal riding means private land with the landowner's permission. For a teenager that usually means a private drive or yard, a family member's land, a private track, or a site where the operator has given the go-ahead. If your teenager is asking for a scooter to get to school on, this isn't it. If they want something for weekends and half-terms with space to actually open it up, these are built for exactly that.

Choosing Between the X7, Eagle 500 and X9

For most 13 to 14 year olds the X7 is the sensible starting point: 350w on a 36v battery, 25km range, and enough power to be exciting without being intimidating for a first proper scooter. Move up to the Eagle 500 or the X9 for an older or heavier teenager, or one who's already ridden something smaller and outgrown it. The X9 is the one to pick if they have real space to ride, since 70km of range and 10-inch tyres are wasted on a short driveway loop. Match the scooter to the ground you have, not just the birthday.
