There’s no denying that the summer of 2018 will go down in the history books as one of the best the UK has ever seen – and for this very reason, now is the perfect time to try and encourage your children to make the most of the summer sun and spend as much time as possible outside. But how do you go about this? If you’re keen to see them put down their games consoles and charge about in the fresh air instead, here are a few ways to help them do just that… and get them out from under your feet at the same time! Buy kids’ ride on cars These are fantastic toys to invest in because they’re so much fun and they’ll keep your little ones entertained for hours outside. They have similar functionalities to real cars (horn, vehicle noise and so on) and there’s also a remote control for parents who may need to take over the wheel from time to time. Just don’t forget to teach your kids the highway code! Get a dog A family dog is a wonderful idea and your children will certainly love having a furry friend to play with. The added bonus is that you can all take the pooch on walks together as a family, so the kids are tricked into getting some exercise. Invest in fitness trackers You don’t need to spend a lot of money on fitness trackers and they can really help encourage children to become more interested in being active as they can monitor their daily step count, set little challenges for themselves and have competitions with friends.
